Hello!
I have a year old Americauna who seems to have injured her tongue. I went out to the coop this morning and saw that she had something sticking out of her mouth. Turns out she had string wound tightly around her tongue. I managed to wrap her in a towel and carefully cut the string off, but she has a large hematoma underneath the tongue. I posed the picture below. I read on another forum to use a little mouthwash to rinse her mouth out to try to prevent infection and did so, then I gave her water. She appears to drink normally and walk around/peck around normally but doesn't really want to eat her food. Any advice??

I’ve never had experience with this but to start you could add some Nutridrench or other vitamins to her water and give her some plain no-sugar yogurt or some egg to get her eating. It might hurt her to eat so anything soft should help.
