Recently Dottie has been goong thorugh a molt and still is, the day light hours are short , so at first I thought it would be normal for her to loose a little weight however the otherday I had a look in the coop and seems she didn’t have the energy the fly onto the perches and out through the door, I pick her up, i could feel her bone absolutely no meat on her her legs are skinny and she finds it hard to keep her balance , her comb and waddles are deflated and have lost all colour , whats odd is the other 4 dont seem as bad, although Theodora who is usually quite chunky, seems to have lost some weight but the other three are fine. Only the two going through the molt have lost weight but Dottie definitely had it worse, my first thought was worms, like any chicken keeper i didn’t want to believe the worse and added DE to their food and Verm X to there water.Ive stared giving dottie poultry power to see if that will give her some energy im also giving her chick crumb and chickepeas( for the molt). Im aware worm is a problem that takes time to solve but am not confident that she has enough time to see it through. Does anyone have any effective solutions, as to how to deal with this situation. Do you think its worms? How can i help her?
