Amoxicillin dosage is 125mg/kg given orally 2 times a day.
Clavamox, the best we can figure is about the same.

If it's a gallon sized waterer, the one on the left, I'd put about 1.5 ml for 5 days. Yes, the max dose is more, but I'm not sure it needs the max dose, and that way you can use the max dose later, if it really gets an infection.

Day 8 and this is it. I started him on antibiotic water maybe a couple days ago (whenever we talked about it) and I just saline washed it and put triple antibiotic ointment on it in this pic! Hes about to get his enclosure cleaned and eat some eggs, super lay, oats, and scratch! thanks again everyone.

Thanks for updating! It still looks nasty, poor guy. Can I ask you - what is super lay? I have not heard of it!

Just to make you aware, as this feed is for laying hens, just like layers pellets, it contains calcium to promote egg production. Roosters and non laying chickens would not need this extra calcium and it is thought it can, over long term, cause health problems. All flock or growers pellets would have a much more accurate nutrient content for him, including a higher protein content. Just in case you were unaware.

I would NOT use saline, since it burns like fire. Why put him through more suffering when Betadine, or Bactine don't burn at all?

Glad to hear you started him on antibiotics.
The wound is pretty deep, but looks to be healing - looks like you are taking care of it just fine.

As far as food...you're o.k. with that I would try to make poultry feed his main source of nutrition. Nice that you have a layer feed that contains 22%. Extra calcium is thought to damage kidneys of non-laying birds over time. There are some studies. Some people never have problems while some do. The Layer feed is a complete poultry feed, so if that is what you have I would make that at least 90% of his daily diet.
