Im still editing pics. But all went well. I got about half the flock re banded and started to get Big Chicken. I have trained dogs and horses most my life and I KNOW its not the same thing but I do know that sometime you have to pull out the "tough love" tactic lol. She was nervous and of course I would not just chase her or lunge at her lol. But I walked to her calmly but firmly and picked her up. She squawked at me at first then settled down. I held her close till she settled and then handed her to my son so I could band her. All in all went well. She dint have any more trouble than my red birds do. Heck I have one red hen that pecks me lol. I got her band on and let her go out nice and calm. So now she has a pretty red "bracelet" and is marked as MINE! lol After a few hours when I went out to throw scraps she was in her same spot and even got in the flock more to get her share! I am very pleased. She does not appear to be any worse for the ware and I made sure I did it calmly but with authority. Also took the advice and let her out in the middle not at the end. Then tonight when I shut the coop up I went in and turned the light on for a few min and pet her again without picking her up. I did not mess with her enough to measure her pelvis or anything. It was not time for that. I dint not have to band her. I use the bands for the red chickens so I can tell em apart lol. and keep track of breeding and laying stuff. But for some reason it seemed important for me to do it.
I know about the squatting too lol. Lacy will squat for me if I reach for her just right lol but she sure wont let me pick her up!!
Ill get the pics up soon.
