Hi, and welcome to BYC!

Here's an article a member wrote that covers all the strange things that can happen to eggs our chickens lay.

Yours looks like #13, corrugated shell

One of the possible causes is diet deficiencies, which shouldn't happen if you have them on a good layer or all-flock, and a side of oyster shell in a separate dish, and not too many treats.

I've seen one egg similar, and I never got another, so I just ignored it.

Are you sure it was an egg? Was it full size like an egg? Do you think it had a yolk and white inside if you had cracked it open? Or was it thick, hard, yellow cheesy material? If so it might have been what's called a lash egg. If you see another one, take a picture, then cut it open and take a picture of the inside. If it is a lash egg (which is not an egg, it's just called that), it could be a sign your hen has an infection inside called salpingitis. Post the pics here and we'll advise you.

it seemed like completely regular egg, nothing was off except for the texture. unfortunately i didn't get the chance to open it, my mother threw it away before I could

Weird eggs are really pretty normal and generally come and go. No need to

thx! we give them layer feed and offer ostyer shells (they don'treally eat those tho) we give them table scraps probably every week but nothing really sugary/super unhealthy. i forgot to mention in the post but the egg did seem slightly larger than normal, so that could've been why

People always say their chickens don't eat OS, but truth is they don't need much so you won't really see the level going down except over the course of a couple of months. Not every egg will be "grocery-store perfect" every time. Some may have a bit of calcium deposits on them giving them a rough texture. Some may be wrinkly. We have a thread here about weird or funky eggs, you'd be amazed what these girls can put out! Let me see if one of the Educators can help us find it.

@Eggcessive, forgive me for calling on you all the time but can you find this thread for us please? I can't remember the name of it. ❤️
