One of the funnest things about having chickens is naming them. Then you always have those certain ones who sort "earn" their names.

I recently got an olive egger. ..
Original Name : Olivia
Earned Name : Spaz
She will scare herself. Runs everywhere. Very jumpy. She eats fast. Spaz fits.

Got what was sold to me as a Jersey Giant hen.
Original Name : Alexa (after one if the girls on the show Jerseylicious)
Earned Name : Butch
She is solid as a rock, petite, rough looking, barely any tail feathers, doesn't lay anymore, and mounts my rhode island red hen.

Some of my others, living and past...

I picked up 2 easter eggers today that I haven't named yet.

Lady Peckington, so named by my 8 year old:

She is a smooth splash sizzle

They decided all the others needed "P" names too so we have; Madame Black Pearl, Henny Penny, Princess Leia, Poppy, Peanut, and Pip....but I think Lady Peckington is the bast name

I have 6 Red Sex links, their names are as follows:

Chicken Nugent (She is the Runt, and has napoleon complex! LOL), Brownie, Fluffy, Gussy, Standing Steve (She perches on EVERYTHING), Crackers.

HAAAAA! I absolutely love it! That's a hoot 1/2!

We have 7 chickens, affectionately named by my kids.
The gal continued her Japanese 'pet name' theme with Kuro and Nitori. (has a budgie named Sakura)
The literary son continued his Shakespeare theme with Dogberry and Fleance (has a hamster named Macbeth and a sugar glider named Banquo)
...and then there's Tux (named by the son becaue she looked like the "Linux penguin" when she was a chick.)
...and Mordekaiser, our fluffiest hen.
-last, is Babsie (originally Miss Babsie) that turned out to be our very dominant Belgian d'Anver cockerel.
-don't think the hubby and I ever pictured these types of names on the birds.....
