Hello all!

I have a ~4-5 month old Sapphire Gem hen that has stopped using her left foot. I am not aware of any accidents that she had, she just started doing it out of the blue one day but was fine beforehand. She can still retract her left leg at the "knee", but its like she no longer has feeling in her toes. When she tries to walk her toes just drag underneath her foot and she ends up hobbling and beating her wings. Her foot is still warm and not discolored so she still has blood flow, and i do not feel any broken bones. She has been separated from the flock for a little over a week now in a confined crate indoors so that she is forced to rest her leg. We've given her electrolytes in her water and some scrambled eggs for extra vitamins along with her normal food. She is just not getting any better, but we dont want to cull her. Is there anything else we can do? Any advice is appreciated!

Ok weird you say that. I have 2 sapphire gems that have both gotten feet problem. One limped for a while and eventually went crippled. She is still living to this day but has no use of her legs. The other one started hobbling around and I just wrapped it as if it were broken and she did fine after a few weeks. I actually posted on here about it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that looks exactly like the one that went crippled. if I were you, id try to straighten it out. I isolated my chicken (her name is Faith) and tried to see if it would help. Eventually her legs just went stiff. I would try to just keep them moving as much as possible and maybe try to straighten it out. But im no professional. Ill post pics of what my chickens legs look like in a few minutes.
