Chicken owner charged after shooting dog.

I don't get how it's the chicken owner's fault when the dog shouldn't have been there to begin with. This is why a burglar could get away with suing the owners of the house they tried to break into and got hurt inside. Seriously guys? That's a bit ridiculous.

This story seems a little suspicious to me. There doesn't seem to be any proof that the dogs were in any way harming the chickens. I've caught our neighbor's dogs oogling at the ducks on numerous occasions. As long as my birds are on the right side of the fence, as are their dogs, I have no problem with this.

Always check your local law... fortunately where I am, you are allowed to shoot animals worrying your stock (no need to wait for attack.. just need to see your animals panicking is enough excuse here).

I know, some people get scared and scared people tend to act a little irrationally. I'm not saying that this guy was necessarily wrong to shoot the dog, I just don't think i would do the same.

This is probably going to be my last post. I am not going to stay and make up scenarios in which the man was right or wrong. The guy was there. He did what he thought needed to be done, and there is nothing we can do about it. I feel there is no reason to attack another living being if it is not actually causing physical harm to something. My opinion here will make no difference in anyone's future or past experiences. When this situation is thrust upon us as individuals we are not all going to stop and say "What would the people on backyard chicken do?" We are probably just going to go with our emotions/gut, even if fear makes us a little irrational. You guys can talk threw this a million times, but if your emotions get the best of you - that is it.

I was meaning the 2.00 leash should look more appealing to the dog owner. Don't judge me so quickly as I've offed two Pit Bulls this month that not only were trying to enter my cages but, also charged at me when I yelled at them.
