In the Brooder
I have a Rhode Island Red that is about 4 months old and I'm starting to think it might be a rooster. In comparison to another of the same age, it is much larger, more shiny, has more pointy neck feathers, larger feet, and green tail feathers. I know it may not be a true RIR since it came from a feed store, but I have others that are full grown and laying and none looked like this. This is also the only younger bird my full grown hens will let in the coop. It does not make noise, clucking or crowing, so I haven't been able to figure it out that way.
I know onces the rest this age begin to lay eggs, I'll be able to figure out quicker if its a hen or a rooster, but I'm curious now! And if its a rooster I can keep it where I live, and I totally would.
