Love it, love it, love it!

I wish I could figure out what is going wrong with my incubators...besides the fact that they are cheapos. I switched thermometers/hygrometers. It showed 100 to 102 consistently throughout the hatch...today is day 22. No pips out of 5 eggs. I candled one...dead...a quitter at around the day 16 or so mark. I freaked out and opened a Wheaten Ameraucana on the air cell side...super liquidy under the membrane...assumed it was a quitter. I went to feel the body to see how stiff it was...IT KICKED BACK! It looks no more developed than the 16 or 17 day mark. What the heck??? The other 3 eggs are Marans and Wellie eggs. I can't see into them, and now I'm wondering if I should leave em or open them. These eggs were set on the 12th. I really need to order my Brinsea.

Did you candle the other eggs too? Seems like your temp could be too low, but geeze, that's way late if the chick is only at day 16 or 17 in development. I opened an egg once that had the same issue - live chick, but underdeveloped at a late date. It was a silkie. It was obviously going to die anyways and was not peeping, just barely breathing, so I wrapped it up in a warm towel and let the poor thing pass in the incubator. At least it was warm and not stuffed in an egg.

if you get a brinsea, get the one with the pump! I love mine.

That is my first thought. I have a digital and a bulb thermometer in there...they both read consistently with each other. I want to say that the temp is too low, but I am so uncomfortable cranking it up to 103-104. This is nerve wracking! I wish I was lucky enough to have broodies!

Could just be the chickies.

I knew my little silkie was an anomaly because all the others hatched EARLY. This one was just too far behind to make it.

Oh, also, I just saw in your other post that your leghorns are rosecomb! if you ever hatch out any rosecombed white leghorns, I want some! I have the usual floppy combed leghorns and while I love them (and their eggs) I don't like having to lube them up when it gets cold.

The temp must be low? Thats odd though. I have 4 thermometers in mine lol. Can never be to sure, I'm so paranoid about having the temp to high or too low. I think I'm going to have a stroke by the time these chicks hatch, if they do.
