You CAN do anything you set your mind to! Nothing is "too hard".

But some things are worth carefully considering before you do them!

Showing chickens and the bad experiences involved were part of me growing up, so I don't regret them.

I do regret getting rid of my Cinnamon Queens and my "Ameraucanas" as we called E.E.s back then.

No way I would give away my adult flock! But Aspen and Quinn I haven't had so long, and if their new home is good...

If I do want to give them away to show, I have to get rid of them soon or else I'll get too attached.

And about show quality hatcheries and breeders... Ideal sells show quality birds?

Ideal does not advertise their stock as show quality, but I got my Black Australorps from them and they were beautiful then and they still are! (I currently have a trio of BAs that I got in October 2010 from Ideal.)

It is possible to get SQ stock from a hatchery, just as it is possible to get flawed stock from breeders.

If you are interested in the Blue eggs, you might contact Lanae cash of Cash's blue eggs. She has GORGEOUS Araucanas! I had a great experience buying hatching eggs from her, but I am pretty sure she is in Northern California too, so you might be able to get some birds from her. SHe is on here as username cashdl. She is in Willits, CA

Blue eggs are nice, but I'm not sure...

About your Australorps- are all three of them show quality? Because I can only get 2 and if they're not show quality...

I ordered 13 Australorp chicks and selected what I thought were the best 3. I don't know how they would do as show quality, but they do meet the standard to my eye, at least.

I am NOT trying to sell you any birds or convince you to buy from Ideal!

It will be hard to get show quality birds by buying 2 chicks, adult stock from an honest breeder would be a better route, especially if you want to show this summer!

I just listed my incubators for sale on Craigslist, I need to stop this madness! I am very happy with the chicks I have, and I really don't want to stress anymore about helping vs not helping hatch!

I have over 40 chickens now and I have to stop and think when somebody asks how many I have, so I think now would be a great time to stop and just enjoy what I have, before I end up on the next episode of Animal Hoarders! (Never seen the show, but my friends keep telling me about an episode with a woman living in a trailer with 200 chickens!)
