I spent the afternoon in the chicken house on a lawn chair, watching the chickens!
I heard a strange moaning noise and looked down the there was a bantam pullet on the floor, laying her first egg! I actually saw it fall from her! She is the prettiest, friendliest girl, always singing to herself!
Here is a picture, wherein she is pacing in front of the baby cage, trying to figure out how to get back in there! Only a couple of months ago, she was in there!
Here is a picture of her a couple months ago, I posted, asking what breed she is, but nobody had any clue! I THINK she is a splash blue Cornish Bantam.
I HATE that my 2 favorite Golden Polish chicks and my buff polish chick are growing "horns" as well as crests! I can't have 3 Polish roosters!
I got some pictures of my polish chicks as well as my two-tone egg that I will put up in a few...
IdealisticRoo, she's BEAUTIFUL! I hope she lays a lot of good eggs for you! Perhaps she's a mutt of some sort? I don't recognize that breed, but in the first picture the tail looks fairly Orpington-ish.

Congrats on your little pullet starting to lay!
A BYC friend of mine just offered me 2 White Crested Black Polish Roosters..I'm trying to decide if I want them or not? I have a Splash Polish Bantam hen..that's about all I got to go w/ him. Besides an assortment of crested mutts! lol

Roosters = frustration and heartache!
I wouldn't take 2, I am only going to keep 1 polish roo!
I will have 2 polish roos that I will trying to give away here shortly! I hate wasting the food required to bring a rooster to adult-hood, only to turn around and give it away when it starts mounting the hens!
Hmm, is it naughty to sell them as chicks now, when they are still cute? Maybe $5 each?
Would you all think less of me if I sold them as "Straight run, gender unknown-but may be boys" Polish chicks?

I consider the word "Straight Run" to basicly be "Free Roosters!!"
So no..I wouldn't feel any differerent about you if you did!
Ok I had to share because it is freakin hilarious!
I have a little sickly chick in the house, he is getting better, that is not the funny part.
Ok so we always order pizza on Friday nights. It is cold outside so we currently have 3 dogs and 1 chick in the house. I am holding the chick on the couch giving it loves. The dogs are all going crazy in the house. The pizza girl comes to the door. The doorbell rings. I hand the chick to my DH so I can get the money. My DH opens the door a crack and tells the poor girl, "hey hold on a sec I need to put the dogs out, ummm I mean chick away."
He seriously said that to the lady! She was like ummmm ok!
