Yah, it was from sending in three manna pro proof of purchases. I saw the ad on the chicken whisperer facebook page. http://www.mannapro.com/promotions-coupons/chick-days/

I have been buying eggs because our layers are on strike and I just can't eat the eggs from my breeder pens. I feel like I'm doing the "walk of shame" when I put the eggs in my grocery cart!!!

Lol!! I am just picturing that.. I only HAVE chickens so I don't have to buy eggs from those poor factory birdies.. Maybe you need another little flock of layer only birds!! More chickens!!

Then again, my fertilized eggs are just mutts, not golden like yours. I'd have problems eating those too!!

I only have silkies so my refrigerator is full of little bitty eggs. A friend came over the other night with ingredients for a salad, including hard boiled jumbo eggs. I picked one up and said, "OMG, where did you get Ostrich eggs?". It was SO strange to hold giant eggs since I haven't had to purchase any from the store in months. Odd how we get used to our own personal reality.

I will eat store bought eggs only if I have to. They taste like water to me after eating home grown eggs for so long. I have a rooster in with all my hens, layers or not so I have no choice but to eat fertile eggs. I don't even think about it, I just cook em up.

featherbaby: Almost all winter I only had silkie eggs to eat around here while I waited on my new layer flock to get old enough to lay eggs. I totally know what you mean about getting used to small eggs. I see a regular sized egg now and it looks HUGE !!!!

That's one reason I am going to find a nice home for my d'uccles. I have enough eggs, not sure what I would do with itty bitty eggs..I think they might have even started laying but the eggs are probably so tiny I can't find them!

(heard the egg song at 4AM this morning which is TOO cute from a tiny little hen).
