Should I provide a mini pool, or just wait for a while?

I let them play in the pool outside of their pen! So it is a treat. The geese get to do this every night when I do chores. The ducks only get to play at the pool when I have time to sit and be with them. I am not ready to put a pool in their pen right now because I think it would be a muddy water mess! I plan on only having the pool in the pen maybe this summer when they are all bigger and then I am putting it as far away from the duck house as possible.

Hi, I'm DinosRBirds. I just got myself 6 chicks last chick days @ TSC, and loved them very much, but since then, a coon got into the coop twice, and now they're all gone

.
I just got more chicks, and this time, i got 12 chicks (was only plannning on the TSC minimum of 6) and 4 ducks (wasn't even planning on it). I have lost one to a sickness, and think that i have one that is sick again ( am currently giving them medicated food). hope not. anyway, i put them in the coop right after i fixed it so no coon could get in, now have to refill the waterer so much, i'm starting to get annoyed with the ducks for drinking so much.I need a gigantic waterer already, and they're not even a month old yet. hope i get a giant waterer soon. I love my poultry, I am addicted. Wish me (and my chicks and ducklings) luck on a lovely poultry adventure

That's perfect! I may need to put them in the alpaca enclosure for a little while, but this looks like a great setup!

What breeds of chickens did you get? Are you planning to post pics?

I started last spring with 4 pullets and a rooster. I got them as chicks from our local feed store and like you thought that was definately all I could handle or even want. We got them just for the eggs for our family and the rooster to protect as we free range. I'm only sure on one of the breeds and she's a RIR. Since then I have bought 2 dutch bantams a rooster and a hen. Another RIR, 2 black astrolops, and 6 assorted bantam chicks in the brooter. I have also bought a bator and hatched my first chick last Sunday and I'm putting more in tomorrow. LOL I have also moved to quail and ducks now. We have 3 quail and 3 ducklings that we just moved out of the brooder. My husband pretends to not care about "my" critters, but he's a complete enabler!!! And he loves it as much as he would say otherwise he was waking up every hour during the night of my first hatch to check the bator for a chick.

The people here are wonderful. Enjoy your birds and let us know if we can help in any way. (Lots of free advice around here and all of it good)

Muggs, these aren't the greatest photos, but I did want you to see some of your 10 GrandChicks.

Here they are in their grow-out coop pen, mostly clustered around the hanging feeder.

In the picture below, the chick closest to the camera is not from any of your eggs; I have two bantam frizzled Cochins with them, and that's one of them. But isn't that a beautiful chick behind the frizzled Cochin? Gorgeous!

And these are more of the MuggsMagee Gang o' GrandChicks.
