I just wanted to say that this thread has helped me a lot! I now have the ok from my DH to get more ducks if I want to. You like how he said, "if I want to". Like I'm going to choose none over some

I even have him building me a duck house this weekend! He went from just letting me get a few chickens, to telling me to get into a chicken support group, and now he said I can get whatever I want! I feel like a very lucky girl!

I cleaned up my incubator and sanitized it and put it away!! I am not hatching any more until I can hatch from my own flock!

I have a few good Ameraucanas now and some good Marans. I just need to wait and watch as they grow up and thin out the extras and I should be set for a while. If only I had a place to get rid of all the extra roos I am going to have now.

That is the hardest part. I guess I could always make a bachelor pen of some kind and grow them out and maybe someone would want them for meat birds???

Today is hatch day for my eggs in the Hova-Bator. Yesterday I had 6 pips, this mornin I woke up to 6 chicks! There are more pips so we'll see what hatches today.

So far it looks like 1 Lavender and 1 Lavender Split ( the chick is Black ) have hatched from Crystal Creek's eggs. Then 4 chicks hatched from my "free" eggs I got from a friend. Looks like I have 1 Dom chick, and 3 other black ones that I have no clue what they are? She said her brown egg layers were 'Doms, EEs, and Giant Black Cochins. I'm thinking they're Cochins since they have feathered feet, but time will only tell!

Hello, everybody. I had computer problems, so i had no access to internet for about one month. I'm glad to be back. And i'm back with good news too: a week ago we bought a house in the village and today i got 60 chickens too. Unfortunately, the computer my daughter brought to me doesn't have a card reader, so i'll be back with pictures later.

My hen is definitely broody!! still flat under nest box and she nipped me when I tried to check on her. Saving up my mutt eggs -just what I need more chicks

I was so worried this morning thinking she might be egg bound but this is much more fun.
