Oh, this hatching business is stressful! I check the TV-bator several times a day to make sure temp and humidity are correct and turn the eggs, because I scrapped my homemade auto-turner.

I have my new Hova-bator preheated and ready to go for a Saturday launch for the New Years day incubation. One seller on ebay will not reply (to my 4 emails thus far, oops) and has not shipped my 8+ FBCM eggs yet.

I should have 6+ bantam Araucana eggs, 5 Sultan eggs, 12 E.E. mix eggs, and maybe my 12-ish LF Araucana eggs to put in by then. So far, the only for-sure ones are the 12 mix, and I don't have a tracking number for them!

The bantam Araucana eggs are coming from Texas, so they should make the Saturday cut-off. The Sultans are M.I.A. the tracking number shows they were accepted Friday, but nothing since then. I wrote to the seller and offered to buy 5 more until we figure out what happened to these.

So, the totals are 62 in the tv-bator and about 50ish to go in the hovabator, guess I will have to make some choices if they all show up, because the auto-turner only holds 42! I guess the extras can join the party in the TV-bator and fill in the blanks after the day 10 candling, because I am sure there will be some rejects then!

I did hide the Hova-bator in the loft above my bedroom, nice stable temp up there and no one to notice it! The only problem is that I am getting too old to climb up there! lol

I guess it is better to have an incubator hidden up there than a bottle of gin or a crack pipe!

Two words for you...Organized chaos. I love getting hatching eggs in the mail...it is like Christmas morning.

I am hoping my hatching eggs arrive in time for saturday. My bator is on and humidity is all perfect! With my luck they will toss them on the porch and let them freeze OR they won't get there until it's too late and sit over the weekend. You have any eggs from anything you can spare mugs just in case? LOL. I want to try the NY hatch!

I hope the eggs I ordered get here on time. thankfully they were not too pricey, but either the po will drop them at my door in the cold or I'll hope they are still at the PO on Saturday in time for the NY's hatch!

My inbox is chuckablock full. I keep deleting messages, but there are so many I'm keeping in there to reference later. Erin (Bloomin Orchid) is coming up this weekend and has some EE chicks. I can take them from her to hold w/ my 3 OE's I have for you...until we have a chance to meet up. Let me know if you are interested.

I hope you aren't as cold where you are, as we are here...your poor little eggies. It's 18 degrees outside. Blick.

I have a Buff Orpington that just started laying again...but the pen she is in has no roos. If I have anything miraculous happen between today and tomorrow, I'll put you on the list with five others that want to hatch for New Years! Of all the times for my girls to slack off.

thanks mugs! Although I don't think the eggs would get here on time I appreciate the thought!

Just took our puppy to the vet's for rabies shots and wormer. I love our vet office...it's like social hour whenever I go. Our vet said I can bring in a chicken and he will show me how to give a shot (saline for practice) if I ever need to medicate my birds later. I'm talking him into giving his wife some chickens for Christmas. She used to raise them and misses them, he said. Does it get any better than enabling your vet to raise chickens?
