Bah you should see my kitchen. ok.. maybe you shouldn't. Hee hee. Remember the Brady Bunch? That's my kitchen. At least I got rid of the shag carpet that was IN THE KITCHEN. Someday I'll remodel it.. maybe.

Sounds like your friend has a really good success rate - even one of the big hatcheries lost a bunch of chicks to an incubator glitch so sh*t happens.

Don't suppose with all those chickens that you have a reliable broody?

At least your kitchen is post World War II! I think mine predates it by a good 20 years! For a big picture window, they took a glass panel from a sliding door and stuck it in sideways! My husband orders stuff for a huge construction outfit...you'd think we'd at least have a brand new window by now!

I have 15 Silkies and 2 Cochin hens. Not one is broody. They have their own time schedule apparently.

I sold some more chickens today!

I had forgotten that I had an ad up, trying to sell my trio of Black/grey Japanese bantams. These came in the October Bantam special and the poor things were always getting stepped on!

The buyers took the Japanese trio and 5 pullets from the Dec. 1st Pullet Surprise special.

So I now have:

9-month-olds
7 E.E.s. 1 roo, 5 laying pullets, 1 freeloading pullet
2 White Rock pullets ( rescued from a Easter chick pet loser that did not feed or water, GRRRR) Rehomed the Rooster that came with - MEAN

10-week-olds
5 Black Australorps 1 roo, 4 pullets
4 OEG Bantams (In large pet cage in garage) 1 roo, 3 pullets
2 Silkie pullets
1 Cornish Bantam pullet
1 White Cochin Pullet

1-month-old pullets
1 Barred rock
1 BSL
1 BA
2 E.E.
2 NHR
1 RIR
1 SLW

I have another 25 pullet surprise special on the way, it should get here next Friday! I love chick-watching! I hope I will have some hatchlings to add to the brooder!

I made $77 on my October 50 chick order and got to keep 13
I made $29 on my December 25 chick order and kept 9
I hope to sell ALL 25 of the January order and KEEP none, because I have enough and I have 95 eggs in the bator! Unless there are some really cute and/ or rare pullets in there!

What started as a hobby over 5 years ago is an obsession. If I join this group, can you help me or hurt me. LOL.... I started with 15 baby pullets. They were destroyed by a pack of dogs. Proceeded to buy more. Then a friend gave me 2 run down and I mean run down dog eatten stryofoams.... Okay and a few roosters.....Oh she's the one.....that started me...Now we have 6 incubators and an electric company that sends us a certificate of commendation on how much power we use!

I love all my other farm animals but the poultry have me! I'm learning about jeans in them and different colors and mixes and all that good stuff

Oops just read about genes.
I'm becoming a bird brain...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I was doing okay until I found BYC,,,,, now I have over 13 varieties of chickens and want more, added silkies to the line up. I was at about 80 poultry prior to BYC ....Now at around 400 give or take the ones I'm not counting! Dream in chickens and ducks and guineas and turkeys, Oh Lordy I'm obsessed. I ration my time here but stop by photos.... Will this thread help me???

I'm thinking of starting a new project - I only have 2 going now... I'm about to lose my house because of the feed bill. Okay when does the intervention begin..... Oh and does anyone have any Lavendar Ameracaunas pullets for sale...LOL...I have the rooster but not the hens....

Anyone need some hatching eggs, babies, roos, a farm full of birds for sale????????????

Love the thread, I feel my budget going down the drain here again!

We are joined by a celebrity addict, WELCOME Bargain! You are preceded by your reputation for having wonderful quality birds and being a great egg packer! I will need some eggs in a month or so!

We like fellow enablers! This is kinda like AA, except if this was AA, we would be chanting "drink, drink!" We ENCOURAGE and congratulate each other on new acquisitions!

I love the Lavender trend that is happening right now! I have Ameraucana eggs from a full Lavender sire in my bator right now! I was told by the seller that there is a good chance that I could hatch a lavender baby, but for me I just want to hatch something! I am still hatching impaired, but VERY DETERMINED! I have 95 eggs between 2 bators!

Happy Monday to all! Lets go get a great start on the first week of this fresh, clean year!

I believe our job here is done.

HA! You have just come to the worst enabler group on the planet. This is where the criminally obsessive finally end up because our friends and family will no longer listen to us talk about our chickens. No subject is off limits. We talk poufs and poop, feed and feather quality, predators and poachers. We'll laugh with you, cry with you, and let you rant when you're at wits end. Most of all we'll encourage you to enjoy every minute with your feathered babies. Welcome to heaven.

You've done good! This is great...you can keep going with your hatching addiction, and not worry about raising every single hatchling!
