mugg, they are very easy to grow, really. they just need place to move around and water to play with it. they don't get sick easy, like turkeys, i had a lot of problems with turkeys. the ducks? nothing, not even one. so, with 12 ducks will be easy for you and next year you will order 50. you will love them, i'm sure (especially the meat
).
They arrived this morning!! I set them in the bathtub with a little bit of water. I ended up with 13! UNLUCKY NUMBER! I love the feel of them. Their down is denser than chicks and they just feel more rugged. I want to set and watch my broodervision for the rest of the day!
I took pics and since misplaced my camera! Be back to post 'em.

Well...bummer about the SA's and BCM. I've been hatching both weekly.
We'll just have to wrangle up some more awesome eggs for your shipment in a few weeks. Thanks for keeping me posted. And, I am not opposed to pics of my grandchicks! (Right gryeyes???
don't let them all day long in that water. they're too small and they get sick.
I opened the box this morning and put them in the tub to drink/stretch a bit. They got a decent 3 minute puddle time before they went into the brooder. Right now they are all cuddling with my 1 week old Ameraucanas! (And making a quick mess of the brooder!
Muggs: I have an excellent idea. When you send other eggs, they might need some extra warmth, so go ahead and stick some ducklings in there and we will be good to go.

Jenny...that advice will help me too. My ducks are coming in tomorrow or Thursday. Not sure what I was thinking! If I ordered 12 (or was it 11) is that difficult to manage? It seemed like so little a number when I placed the order!
And Chandra...I have a huge farm surrounding my property that is for sale.
100+ acres with big storage barns and produce stand. He's asking $600K for it, which is A LOT for our area.
It is sitting there mocking me...oh how I wish I could buy it. I can't imagine the world of trouble I'd be in, though, if I did!!! All the animals and pasture I could play with!
Muggs talk with your bank and see if there are any farm loans available...Yes that's a lot of money for any area right now but those storage barns cost a lot of money....If there are matching loans for farm purchase go for it! if you can afford it....Surely some farm grants....If I find one, I'll message you! Muggs I'm so personally offended...You coulda hatched some of my ducks....Ah well, maybe on the new farm!

I'm not ready to hatch ducks yet. This was easier for me to have ducklings delivered. When I'm ready hatch duckies, I'll let you know! Thank you Nancy!
Because I lent 2 of our bators to the elementary school, I broke down and bought a cheapo and another turner. SOOOO stoopid! I can't seem to stop the madness.
