Oh ok, you've convinced me. You can send me 'test' chicks.. Hahaha..

Are you hatching any Silkies? You can test send some to me and I will pay for any that arrive alive, plus shipping/packing cost.

I am having the hardest time finding a couple of silikies to be my "incubators"

That's great....Get a written signed contract on that 50/50 hatch!!!!! if you have any valuable eggs there and be there to be sure he doesn't give you all roosters.....I've had that happened with shipped chicks...Oh Yeah, I know now that I want the entire straight run not say a portion of it....

That was a lot of roosters to try to rehome and at a high price! ugh...Lesson learned....moving on!
Nancy

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you....I never would have thought that someone would do that....but you are right, someone with more experience than I might give me my 50% from the male side of the brooder. I will get it in writing and that at least 50% of my 50% will be girly girls.

Well, I think unless they can "type the birds such as sex linked traited it might be impossible to guarantee boys and girls.... I'm more concerned that your contract spells out that you will be notified the day of the hatch and will be able to pick your 50% of the birds...Some birds like barred rocks are very easy to identify boys and girls.... Without a contract you cannot complain and may wwell just be giving up free eggs to someone who will be selling the chicks and that' double theft in my book. Not every chicken, bird peron is ethical unfortunately...Wish it were o. I've been down the trail of tears...

This fall I bought a straight run online and mysteriously only 3 girls and 9 boys and later find out that the type of bird is easily "sex traited"....Things that make me go,,,mmmmm....

I'm now in full hatch mode...I just bought another cabinet...Weak in the knees, in gets delivered tomorrow. bought from a good friend who only hatched about 5 times in the year she had it...I'll need to make a hatchery tray for the bottom, but we'll be rocking and making babies really soon.... Oh Am I in trouble now!!!!!!!!!!!! woohee.......

All you can do is try it. They will probably be fine. Make sure they have enough room to sort things out. They are young enough that they should accept a friend .

Okay, thanks! I'm hoping to do that, given that the SQ Blue Orp breeder responds to my PM's...

If chickens are like children 3 will not work. You will need 4 total. Besides what's one MORE chicken when you already have a couple?
