Any tips on getting the ducks to actually like me??? I would love it if they didn't run in terror from me. I try treats and they take a 1 second glance at me and run for the hills! I am getting 5 new baby girls this weekend and I want to spoil them and start them off different in hopes that they will sorta like me.

I played with my ducklings daily. As soon as I put them outside they were like "See ya!". Mine won't even come for feed. They quack like mad when I feed them, but wait until I leave before they eat. I am trying to handle the smaller ducklings I have, but I fear it will just be the same routine.

Ok. Here's my addiction story:
I got my first hens back in September. I started out with 6 girls. I was still enlarging my coop, so I knew I was planning on about 6 more. I also got a pair of peafowl at the same time. My plan was to free range the peafowl. The hens are a mixed flock for eggs. Well, the coop was completed. Eventually 8 more girls found there way home. I now have 14 hens. I recently purchased an incubator, because I wanted to hatch peafowl eggs. I decided to "practice" on chickens. A friend gave me 14 blue and splash Marans. 13 of the 14 hatched. I sold them at a poultry swap, and took the money and bought 13 more eggs!!! I am now thinking of building a grow out coop...... I think there is no hope for recovery.....

LOVE my chickens. and addicted to BYC forum.

I don't know why I did it. I HAVE 3 Cayuga and 3 call duckling in a grow out pen, now. The calls I hatched, the Cayugas I bought at the feed store.

Those are the two breeds I love: Cayugas and Calls.

I have this tiny ringneck pheasant chick that hatched before I took the eggs out of the turner for lock down. It isn't hurt but lonely. I'm typing with one finger cause the chick is in the other hand. It's like watching a baby sleep. They're so sweet, It just wants to cuddle. Those other eggs need to hatch so this one has some company in the brooder. I cant get in it.

All bird eggs taste the same to me. My Geese eggs obviously make more of a meal than one chicken egg. Most my extra eggs go to food shelter, which I think more people should do.

Oh and requests for puppy picture is a challenge as puppy never stops moving.
