I'd also be interested in raising some.

Just wanted to share this cute picture of Toughnut, my little Serama boy.

I've been messing with him alot lately, mainly just carrying him around while I feed everyone. Well the other day I was in the garden holding him and I put him in the flower beds to eat bugs and I walk to the other side of the garden to check on some plants and Toughnut jumps out of the bed ( plant ) and runs after me! At first I thought he just didn't like it in the plant bed, but when I set him down in the front yard and walked off he was right at my heels!

Now, he just follows me around the yard like a puppy! Such a sweet boy, most of the time. He still gives me a good peck when I try to pick him up in the morning from his hutch!

Ok, Ladies and few Gent's. I was surprised that all of you claiming to be addicts that I would of had more idea submissions by now, alas not so.

This is what me a few friends and the wife came up with for our next order: 10 White Silkies/ 1 Rooster, 10 Silver Spangled/ 1 Rooster, 10 Mottled Cochins/ 1 Rooster, 10 White Cornish/1 Rooster and 10 White Crested Black polish/ 1 rooster.

Ok since my lovely wife is pestering me to correct my report on the chicken breeds and other animals as I got it wrong the last time. You must know I can get a bit scatter brained this time of the year with all the work to do and don't remember every breed of chicken I have, lol.

Sad day found my old King Rooster dead (Partridge Rock), but with any luck the two broody partridge hens sitting on eggs will hatch potential replacements.

Bummer! I'm so sorry. Any idea what happened to him?

Oh, and an add on thought to your ornamental request...I have found what I love for me...I'm afraid our flock is boring in comparison to others. I like fat bottom breeds, feather legs, a varied colorful flock, and oober friendly personalities. I'm a sucker for Orpingtons, Ameraucanas, Welsummers, Marans, Silkies and a few kick patootie breeds in between...such as my sussex, Langshans, OE's, EE's, back yard mixes, Chocolate Polish, a few bantam Brahmas and Black Tailed White Japanese, and Naked Neck Roo.

Showgirls are a hoot! I would recommend a few of those while you are at it!

From what I can tell just old age. We had a rough winter and though the barn stays fairly warm in the winter, around 45 degrees F, it can get cooler. Thats when I might turn on heat lamps but we lost power for several days once and that certainly could of weakened the old bird.

I'm still wondering how my RIR rooster survives in the winter months. I suppose he might stay under the porch but that doesn't seem very safe to me.

Did anyone see the recent post from someone who culled their chick(s) by flushing them? Made me physically sick. The thread was locked (thank goodness). I couldn't form my words in time to leave a post...truthfully, I couldn't form a "polite" response as I wanted to jump down that person's throat. Ugh. Why would they think that was an okay/humane way to cull?

Awe what acute pic of baby.

Good thing the post got locked. That would have created an angry cyber mob!

I have a chick with a bad leg that I am hoping gets better. I hate culling babies so I get my Dad to humanely do it.
