Chicken (Poultry) Addiction Anonymous *Chat Thread*

I'm at it again... My chicks came today from Welp Hatchery... 10 BO's, 10 Black australorps, and 5 white leghorns. 2 extra thrown in so an extra white leghorn and black australorp. That brings my count up to 52. But......25 are teenagers and 27 are 2 days old. Oh, and I have 8 BBSO eggs in the incubator that are hatching next week (hopefully~ those were 8/12 and look good so far).....AND have ordered some Lavender Orp and more BBSO eggs to come the following week from another BYC'er.

You've got it BAD!!! Cheers to your addiction! I have never seen a bantam BO. Pics when they hatch and grow, please!

Neither have I, except in pictures Tricia posted on her Bantam Orp thread.

Will post plenty of pics when they hatch, and will keep y'all up to date on them.

My reply to anyone who asks why I bought more is as follows .... "Well, you see I needed more wrapping supplies to ship egg, so you see I HAVE to get more!"

I've got it bad. We have 10 acres and I am ready to fill it all up. Right now I have about 20 adult goats, about as many kids, and an uncounted and multiplying number of chickens. I have 8 coops of various sizes , 4 chicken tractors, 5 brooders, 3 fish tanks with baby chicks and a barn. The big incubator has never been off since I bought it, and I have 4 others that are all on right now. Good thing I don't have a real job, I am too busy for that!

One of my favorties disappeared last night. That's 3.....

Well, I'm hoping I can go and look at some I found today in the afternoon. Maybe replace my missing Brahma's..

As for ornamental bird's our App's we acquired are laying up a storm. Not that I'm complaining. No roo's in their nest but I have a couple who want to sit on eggs all the time and I just have to push them off.

Now if only I could get the adult reds to start laying more (5 eggs in 2 weeks). They've been with us about 3 weeks. Not sure how long it should take for them to be settled enough to start laying...Oh well, I'll just have to wait.
