Thanks for sending it our way (we're very close to Chicago). We had horrible storms last night and this morning and there was a heat advisory. Got off work at 2:00 it's like 73 and nice. 4 hours later, you can't breath. Dave hadn't let the locked up chickens out because of the rain. Of course I come home walk in to find 3 inches of rain in the basement, run upstairs, throw on shorts and a crock (still have my work shirt on -good thing I work at a vet) and out side I go only to find 3 of our pens with at least 2 inches of water and alot of unhappy chickens.

1 pen I let out as no where to move it right now, the other 2 pens moved, still wet but not soaking. So now about that 3" of water in my basement......(power went out for about 1 hour, thats' how hard it rained).

So my moral is? You can tell you're a chicken addict when you run through 3"of water in your basement to go check on your chickens....

And PR, keep your heat and humidity.....thank you very much!

Nope sorry, Indiana can always have our weather. Enjoy the oppressive heat and humidity. Today was just as bad as I cut hay, thank the gods I bought a air conditioned tractor a few years ago and hire high schoolers to bale the hay,

. We need a little devil smiley. Thats how I feel as those kids sweat through their clothes as I smile and enjoy their suffering, but I pay 10 dollars an hour so the three I've been hiring over the last couple of years make good money over the summer.

I dove into one of my ponds after the days work, lol. I brought our my little Ducklings before hand so they enjoyed swimming with their Mother/Father. Of course when I slowly drove home into the barn in the tractor, I had a very angry looking wifey. I failed to tell her I was off having a good time and she of course over reacted and thought I was injured in the field or something

. When I did tell her what I was doing, while she worried, she basically blew up and I retreated to the Duck pen.

Yes, Leghorns are at the top of laying production. WOW, ChickenFarmer you must be rolling in eggs.
I know what your going through. I am over one hundred with a wide variety of breeds. I sell 90 percent of my eggs and then give some to homeless shelters, when I can.
