Question:
The eggs I moved this weekend due to poweroutages have been moving on and off for two days. Today is Day 21. I've been reading that the eggs move when they are ready to hatch. There was no pip or movement this morning...Does that mean they are dead in the eggs?? Or can they move for awhile before pipping?

Guess he believed me! I'm sure everyone at his office knows about it by now though. I can live with that I guess...

Be patient! They should be working their way out. Sometimes talking to them or tapping on the bator will get them "talking"...I would wait just a little longer before you open them up (which is what I would assume you would do). Their incubation cycle has been disrupted a bit...I would expect they are fine. I had a woman buy 3 eggs (on day 18 of incubation) for her broody that was hatching air for 4 months. She put them in her bra, stayed and talked with me for 2+ hours, drove 1/2 hour to get home, and put 1 under her broody, 2 in the incubator. The ones in the incubator hatched a day before mine!

Thanks, Muggs! I was planning on giving them several days over just in case the moving scrambled their time table a bit. Also, maintaining humidity and temp was an on going task. By the time we had it down, power was back on and I moved them back under the lamp. I think they like the candlelight better...maybe it was the Home for the Holiday's Yankee candle scent! Who knows, I could hatch the first ever scented chicks!!

I am really hoping things work out and I can figure out a way to find time to milk them next year and try to make cheese and soap and fun stuff like that. If that plan doesn't work out then they will just be cute weed eaters.
