Willie is an indoor/outdoor pig. He comes inside at night to play with the dogs and sleeps in a crate, but spends his days outside in a run. Right now his run is so wet from the constant rain we've been having, that he has been inside for several days straight.

Today is the 2nd day of school and we got the call that it is a snow day...err...rain day! One of our main routes here is closed down due to flooding. Anybody else need rain? I'd be happy to send it to you!!

We are finally getting rain here, but not as much as you. So I have to ask, is Willie potty trained when he is in the house???? Believe it or not my Husband has always wanted a pot bellied pig.

Willie is definitely potty trained! He is just like having a dog...he goes in and out when they do...will do tricks for food, knows how to sit, tries to sit up (like our pooches do) which is HILARIOUS to watch, because he can't do it and will use whatever prop is nearby to achieve that...the wall, our leg, the other dogs! He has a stuffed animal he likes to throw around and chase. He favors our boy dog (Zildjian a Yorkie/Bichon mix) and will nudge his chest over and over until the dog is standing upright on his back feet...I think it's Willie's way of showing affection, and the dog LOVES it! Willie comes when he is called and can run faster than any little short legged creature I have ever seen...all with his tail sticking straight up! He pokes our legs with his schnozz to get food when we are cooking (it hurts) and is stubborn as the day is long. He can climb steps but not a flight of stairs. We have one big step from our kitchen to our porch and two step from the porch to the side yard...he uses that to get in and out. My friend built a ramp for their pig in the winter...we may do the same. The yard looks funny where he drags his belly in the snow...looks like otter trails!

Does everyone know they can change the amount of posts to view per page? I just went to my profile, then on the profile menu clicked on DISPLAY, and changed from the BYC default to 40 posts per page under the pagination options. Makes reading and catching up so much faster!

Good Evening All!

I'm enjoying this cool weather more than I can say, it has been simply wonderful! As much as I've been enjoying it, I think my 'chooks have been like'in it even more. Their egg production has gone up about 10 eggs, and I'm thinking I have a few new pullets laying, as I've been seeing some smaller/weird shaped eggs in the nests.
I've taught myself how to make YoYo Quilts, so I've been trying to make myself make a few of those everyday, once I get the hang of it I want to start making miniture quilts to go on my mother's doll beds she makes, and markets on etsy.
*sigh* I am looking forward to the days when it's too cold outside to do anything and I can sit by the woodstove covered up in thick quilts and enjoy a cup of warm hot cocoa.
Well, I must be off..the animals are expecting me methinks!

Adding 200 hens to the flock and chicken tractors as demand has risen. Probably will be RIR's. You can also find me on BYH as 77Herford and read my journal.

Probably a dumb question, but what is BYH? And 200???!!? Wow. Good luck!

Question, slightly off the previous topic, but maybe not: when can I put the eight chicks in the coop? I think for now they'd go in the bantam coop which has 2 cochin hens & 2 jb a hen and a roo. They are all approx 7-8 mos right now.

X2! You've got me all curious!

A YoYo quilt is just a small piece of material that is a small circle, and then is sewn around the edges and then you just pull the thread until it makes sort of a "flower" shape..then you just tie a knott in it and there you are! Once you have a whole bunch of them made up you sew about 30 of them together to make a small quit for a doll bed. I haven't quite figured out how to sew them together yet, but I'm sure I will. I will post some pictures of them tomorrow if I can.
