Chicken skin problem

For some reason I thought yeast was a protist.

I realize I forget to say what feed she is on... It is an 18% all flock feed by Nutrena - their natural line. So nothing fancy but should be balanced. I will give her the vitamins tomorrow. Acidophilus is what is in yogurt?

I'm thinking about what may have led to her getting this fungal infection. Her system must have some sort of imbalance. Besides the B vitamins suggested by @Wyorp Rock, I would give her an acidophilus tablet each day, and maybe consider fermenting her feed. Or else the infection may recur if her system remains out of balance.

By the way, yeast is in the larger fungus family, just as marigolds are in the Daisy family.

I bathed with head and shoulders and soaked her in betadine tonight. Seriously took like an hour to blow dry her even though she's tiny. In the morning, I'm going to do the Monistat I picked up. She did seem to actually like the spa treatment!

A doctor once told me to use "Johnsons Baby shampoo" on my son. He said it brings up "scruff" from the scalp and won't bother the eyes. It might make it easier to treat the skin afterwards.

You were probably confusing algae and molds with yeast and fungus. Former are unicellular, the latter are multi-cellular.

Some yogurts have acidophilus. It depends on the strain. Greek style yogurt has it. I find the tablets convenient. They don't spoil, and I don't have to worry about running out as quickly.

Thanks to everyone who commented here. This is her in full health:

Hey guys,

I decided too give the B12 in water to all my chickens. How long before I have to change it out for fresh?

Every day you need to change it for fresh with fresh vitamins. Any time you add nutrients to water, it encourages bacteria, which thrive on good nutrition as much as your chickens do.
