I have a barred rock hen who has been sneezing for at least 12 days now, I know that if chickens get a draft they can catch a cold. I have been giving her and the rest of the flock gets it to in their water I have been giving them teroxy HCA-280 antibodict. She has been sneezing and when I get close to her you can her wheezing, she seems to be fine otherwise. It said on the package to give to them for 7 to 14 days , I have been giving it to them for 11 days now. My girl doesn't seem like it is helping her, could it be something else and not a cold. Once in awhile I do hear some of the other chickens sneezing. But we have been having really hot & humid days here (90 degrees + humid) and then all of a sudden the temp drops in the night down to be in the 50's. Do I need to take her to a vet or should I just keep giving the water I make for them? Is there anything else I could possiblely do? the weather here is up and down alot lately. really hot and humid for several days then just drops in temp down to being in only highs 60's through the day then drops into the 40's through the night. Such a change that it makes everyone get sick. And can I keep giving them this water with teroxy HCA-280 longer then 14 days? I really want to get my hen better before winter comes. Any suggestions?

If you can take her to the vet, than yes, I would. That's not always an option for everyone. Tell the vet what you've done so far and see what they recommend.

Hopefully, a vet would be able to tell you what's wrong.

I know what you mean about the weather! It suddenly changed here too! It hasn't made me feel great and I don't think the chickens are enjoying it either. I know they aren't enjoying the wind!

I really hope that it is nothing serious!

I just had the same problem with a couple of my silkies. We've had cool nights too all of a sudden.

For those that are wheezing/rattling:

Tylan 1/2 CC for standard size chicken 1/4 CC for bantam size by mouth....once per day for 3 days
discontinue tetroxy

There is also a Tylan water soluble powder available for treating the entire flock.
