I know I wont try to hatch out anymore untill I get my Genni back, wont make that mistake again.

I checked the eggs in the incubator that was hooked to the genni and all 3 eggs are still wigling,
I just ordered a candling light off ebay in hopes of seeing inside those button eggs,
I am leaving the other incubator running with eggs in it in hopes that they may yet still hatch. time will tell I guess.

I told hubby I would be getting a laarger more powerfull genni for running the house and the small genni that got us through this storm was going to be JUST for the incubators lOl .
too bad he wasnt right here I would have loved to see the look on his face.

i gave my incubators and eggs to a girl in ma doing a project for school, she was out of power for 12 hrs and carrying the incubator from house to house looking for electric. i hope they hatch for her, poor thing, she is in early stages, wonder if that matters, mine were so close to hatch anyways,

i was thinking the same thing gypsy, would have loved to see his face myself. lol

Purr which Line co does your hubby work for ,
My Hubby works through McDonough electric.
he has been out since 6 pm thursday night , have heard frm him a few times and looks like a few more days on the job.
dont know where they are going from Eastern Mass.

I was stupid the first night with no power but grew a brain after the genni got up and runnng hooked one bator up that had chicks well developd in it.
I think I lost all 60 button quail eggs though, that bator I totally forgot to hook to the genni. time will tell.

Right now he's out with Groton Line , but usually he's in the Local 104 office. He's the organizer and President. He's must know your Hubby. He has worked for McDonough before. Is your Hubby in the local?

Purr....my father was a lineman also...he worked for Bechtel power in Houston for many many years...he also worked on offshore oil rigs as an electrician. I remember his pole climbing spikes and his helmet duct taped with sticks!! LOL

Gypsy and UrbanMamma....you poor things. I had the same thing happen to me last year....transformer fire lost power for like 8 hours....I left them and started up the bator again and ONLY 2 hatched. They were marans eggs. Next time....I'll put a hen in a dark box with the eggs on a nest and FORCE her to go broody if I can. Poor babies!!

No he subcontracts with Groton and McDonough both, He is a Calss A driver and they call him out when they need drivers, it does make for some good pay checks.
I am sure your ubby knows who he is.

That is hysterical, I mean you cannot help but laugh out loud when you see that picture pop up.
I have some in the brooder right now, 2 giant blue cochins, 7 buff frizzles and 1 lone splash sizzle.
They are so cute.
I think the cochins will end up being their buddies. You know how whenever you brood different chicks together they end up hanging out together even when they have been integrated into the main flock. They roost next to each other, eat out of the same feeder, dust bathe together etc.
I think these cochins will end up being their body guards out in the yard, no one will mess with the little frizzles.

hi all
We have power, but no internet or phone.
Luckily I have internet at work or I would have NO CLUE about what is going on in my city as far as school goes.

Looks like I am driving the kid to my moms tonight for the rest of the week. They were supposed to have the schools open for Wednesday. But there are still over 80 thousand people without power. So the schools with power are all being used for shelters. Plus streets are still blocked by downed trees and wires. I probably should have left her there anyway when we were there over the weekend. But she has already missed so much school because she has been sick.
I took her to work with me yesterday. Yeah. That didnt work well. She was bored in no time. And I had brought her stuff so she had something to do for 4 hours. she wasnt bad, but just bored.

The National Guard is here though. Good thing to see. They are helping clear trees and debris from the streets.

But OMG RTE 12 and one of the main streets I use to get to the barn are decimated.
Telephone poles are GONE. Trees GONE.

Sorry about the loss of eggs.
Those chicks are so CUTE
