Chicken Swaps Of Nh ( May Listings )

i always worry about the hatching or hatched chicks 'bowling' with the other eggs as they move about. using that divider might be a good way to divide up some of the eggs so not all of them get pushed around by the eggs/chicks moving about.

I like to buy the rubbery mesh contact paper to put on the floor. It helps keep the eggs from rolling around.

I use that one divider for my "pure eggs" that I want to be able to keep track of. Maybe next time i'll make a few more !!

MUFFI - I use to use that stuff (like the shelf liner) but i noticed I lost a few chicks a few different times last year b/c they would end up pip side down on the mating and would get gooey inside. So after that I stopped using it.

I hatch out of cartons a lot but this batch was to big to do that.

Heather, I put the eggs in cartons and have 5 dozen in the new 1588 right now and they are all developing and growing nicely. They are due the end of the week so I am curious to see what the final count of live chicks will be.

Cartons work great also... I just dont have enough room to use them this time !!!!

I went down to feed and water the 3 NN chicks that hatched last week. The last one to hatch was so glued into the egg that I had to use water and a small paintbrush to remove him from his shell had his eyes so glued shut that it took me a half hour alone to get them opened. I think he ended up blind because he would not stop peeping and was walking around and bumping into the walls of the brooder. Well, he must have stumbled into the waterer and fell foreward and could not get up because this morning I found him drowned! Poor thing!

Why, how many eggs are in thee? I have 5 cartons so that makes 60 eggs in mine. It didnt look like that many in your picture or are they jumbo eggs? I will try and get a pic of mine and load it up.
