DH got another rat this morning... a really big one. I asked what bait caught this one ~ he uses a cheese or p-nut butter filled cracker w/ a cubelet of pre-packaged cheese cube next to the cracker ~ the rat's choice. ZAP! 2nd rat this week...

Kensizer trap from Amazon

I threw in a small handful of mealworms tonight. It doesn’t look like my tra caught anything - it flashes a green light q 30 seconds if so. I don’t see anything on the barn cam.

Just that beast Truly out of he stall again.

We have a silver laced polish bantam she came with her bro but when we introduced them to the flock her brother ignored her so she was a lone chicken and got picked on by everyone so we used to feed her in our porch, and then use her to eat the food of the dining room floor. She used to run into our arms and when we picked her up she would fall asleep as it was her safe space. Now she’s filling integrated with the flock but she’s gone flighty after we went away on holiday.
You left her alone and she’s kinda angry at you. Chooks have feelings too, some deeper than humans sometimes. So many of my favorite hens, would approach me when their time has come, just so they could pass away comforted in my arms. Not a joke. It rips my heart out losing any of my precious gems, but knowing that they truly trusted me and came to me, meant everything. Yes EVERYTHING! I miss them all

Rats are sneaky burrowers. You may have them in the area & never see them ~ it may depend on whether they are an underground burrowing community type, or junk pile inhabitants, or barn dwellers, or heaven forbid, house/building dwellers, etc. They are everywhere whether we see them or not. Ponypoor may never have seen her barn rat if it were not for her night camera. They scurry around in the dark when dogs & cats are not around... & they run very fast when startled.
We’ve had them before we had cats and we used to hear them walking in the stone walls outside and see them running in our garden at night. We even saw a few during the day but since having cats nothing. We also look out for rat holes.

and Castor doesn't particularly care to share. Sherlock is willing to wait his turn.
