Just a heads up to anyone near our neck of the woods, this past week we've lost a few cats in the neighborhood to a bear, and Last night he got all of our Turkeys!

All this the day before we were going to put up the electric fence. Sofar we've lost 6 birds to this guy, and the neighborhood is starting to take a stand. so if you're in the Thorton/holderness/plymouth/campton area, watch your birds and pets. Needless to say until our fence is up and running, our birds are being held in small rabbit cages for their safety.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. We have a lot of woods here also. I make sure everyone is locked in before dark to be sure. I didn't see you at the Milford swap. I had some eggs for you. Are you going to make either swap this weekend?

Hi chris
sorry to here about your animals
check with darbella she had some turkey for sale this weekend she might still have them ?

Sorry to hear about you poor animals Chris. I dont know what I would do if I came upon that scene! My friend around the corner has a bear that keeps pulling her birdfeeders down. He must be a vegan bear cause otherwise her cats would be gone I am sure! They sit ethere watching him from the deck within a few feet of the feeders from the sliding glass doors. Her whole back of her house is glass wall looking out to the deck! Has anyone notified the Dept. of fish and game to relocate the bear? He sounds like a nusance bear and that is what they told my friend they would do if it comes aorund again.

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so weired !!!!! Last night hubby and I were out putting some new layers in the coop and heard something in the wood. We both just figured it was the stupid fox that comes around every so often !! We then heard it get closer (like 10 feet) so hubby turned the light around so we could see and sure enough it was a HUGE black bear trying to get in to my rabbit cages !!!! EKKKKKKK... I was sooooo freaked out !!! Hubby yelled at it !!! LOL, yes it was kinda funny that he yelled at a bear !! He told him to get out of here and go home.... The bear looked just as scared as me and took off running !!! I did some reading on them and they dont usually eat animals !! They are more after the grain. Are you sure it has been a bear doing the killing ??? Odd !! Either way sorry to hear about your loss

Sorry to hear you're having bear trouble.

NH Fish and Game can be very helpful, but keep in mind they might not consider it a good idea to relocate the bear. "A fed bear is a dead bear" which is to say, if a bear becomes acclimated to being fed, it will become a nuisance wherever it goes to. NHF&G may put it down if they think this is the case.

stage one of "fort truecolorsloft" is complete, and the fish and game guys are coming by tomorrow to confirm it's a bear. We told them it's a three foot hold in our coop with fresh bear pie near by. LOL! They gave us permission to shoot so the 12 gauge is loaded and ready JIC. We'll see how the meeting tomorrow goes.
