I have 13 birds. Mine are out free ranging from around noon to almost bedtime. I entice them back into the run in the evening with treats, mealworms, sunflower seeds and scratch grains,1 cup of each.
I also put leaves and other compostable stuff in the run, mainly to help keep down the mud. The treats get lost in the leaves which keeps them busy in the morning before free range time. They do have all flock feed free choice.
