I would wonder why you cant have chickens there........is it because it is just not possible (no room, not legal, etc etc) or if you cant have them there because she does not want them.

My last SO was not an animal person at all......I knew it wouldn't work out just because of that and it didn't very quickly. My current SO loves animals.....and although he could really care less about the chickens (and finds it kind of strange that I like them and have so many), he will go with me to buy chicken food, carry the bags down the hill to the garage, and even come over to lock them up at night if I can't get home in time. Because they are important to me

If I was going to move in with him (ha), and he said I could not have the chickens........I would be angry because he lives on a large property and has a barn and can definitely have chickens there. But if he lived in the city and I could not have them because it was not actually possible, that would be different. If this is the case, it is up to you whether you would rather live with your girlfriend or live separately and have your chickens.

But I do disagree with one thing.... the darn shoe thing... forget it. I find shoes that are still in boxes in my gf's trunk of her car... she lives with me and she hides them! Spoken like a true warrior, I too pick the battles I can win and after 25 yrs of marriage I have gotten pretty good at pickin some winners LOL. I have been blessed with a non shoe fetish woman LOL.

Well she was off to work today and had a pair of shoes on... nice shoes by the way... took them off... and put on another pair only to say "I'm gonna have to get some better work shoes". All I did was smile and a bit of a chuckle. She asked what I was laughing at and I said oh nothing... I'm thinking in my head "only if she new I was talking about this shoe thing on BYC" She already thinks that I can't function in the morning without a cup of coffee and BYC first thing in the morning.

I think she needs to make the decision to move on without you.....If a guy was having a hard time deciding between me and his chickens he'd be out the door.

If it seriously came down to my husband or the chickens - I would obviously pick my husband, because we've been together for going on 15 years now, I know he'd never make an ultimatum like that unless there was a real good reason.

I guess if its the girl that just doesn't like chickens or doesn't want them, I'd have to sit down and talk about it with her first, figure out the real reason, see if her mind can be changed and work from there - perhaps she has some crazy idea's like chickens attract rats or whatever.. you never know what people believe, and those could be the reasons' she doesn't want chickens. Get to the bottom of it!

Where to start? Keep your chickens my friend...my first spouse, notice I said first, gave me an ultimatum with regard to a kitten I fished out of the dumpster that had been left to die...it was him or the kitten...I gave up the kitten...later on it was the horses...I had four...he hated them and was mean to them...but it was okay for me to hold his cows on a rope while he put up the fence...eventually my animals had to stay and he had to leave...he was older than me but immature, insecure and jealous of anything I had that took my eyes off of him...
And then I did it again...married another man who could not deal with a woman who wanted to do more than throw rose petals in his path as he walked...we fought over the dogs...I was breeding and showing dogs at the time...one day I got the ultimatum, it is me or the dogs....I told him not to let the gate hit him in the butt on his way out...
Find someone who shares your interests and has their head screwed on right...someone who allows you to be who you are and is not insecure and over controlling...it is the chickens today...if she wins that one, there will be more on her list for tomorrow that you can not have or can not do or even think...take your chickens and

I hear ya on the coffee and BYC thing, my wife thinks I can't live without it LOL, I don't tell her she's right of course.
