hello! we recently rescued some factory farm chickens. they are not in good shape, but we are worried for one in particular.

she is 11 months old, maybe weighs a kilogram. when she arrived she was being transported with a huge amount of other chickens, she was squished under them.

she is weak and does not stand up on her own, one of her legs is cold and somewhat atrophied. she will not put that leg down. it is not broken.
she doesn’t show much interest in eating or drinking. she also twitches her head, as if shaking something off, pretty often.
her stool has been pretty runny, greenish.
we have given her a b-vitamin complex and painkiller. we are thinking of giving her gabapentin.

she is currently inside the house with one of her friends.

Poor thing. So glad that you are trying to help her. She looks to be feather picked on her crop and elsewhere, and was probably low in the pecking order. Hopefully with some rest and food, she will perk up. A chicken sling chair might be helpful with food and water containers placed in front of her. Some chickens will not tolerate them and may fight to get out. They can sit in them for periods throughout the day, and then out for periods of rest and sleep. Here is a good thread with pictures of slings:

Has this factory farm been shut down? That hen is in really bad shape. :hit Thanks for trying to help her. Hoping for the best!
