While taking care of my chickens I realized one of them had a closed eye. I took a closer look and this is what I found, any ideas as to what it is? A healing injury maybe?

I would rise the eye with saline or an eye wash 2 times a day, and then apply a dab of either Terramycin eye ointment from a feed store, or plain Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment for a week or two. Is the dark part on her comb evidence that she has been picked on or run into some fencing? Do you hear any congestion, sneezing , or other signs of a respiratory infection?

Our rooster sometimes picks on her, other than that no other one of our hens does. I'll take your advice on the terramycin

Most feed stores have it locked up for safety, since it is in a small tube to deter shoplifting. In some states such as CA, it may not be sold.
