What is gentian violet?
I think peroxide does more damage than it does help.
actually, i tried :
raw Manuka
vertericyn (veterinary strength)
Iodine
and many more things before peroxide
peroxide was the ONLY thing that stopped the pus from refilling the gash and from festering. The wound closed after that and healed nicely. Even my beloved 20% ichthammol drawing salve did nothing :(

Gentian violet is an antimicrobial, antifungal. It is the blue in BluKote. It can help treat candida.

If this would be a recurring or chonic type of fowl pox, much of th literature says to not disturb scabs. Even dropped scabs from an infected chicken can spread the disease.

I do not think you should be taking the scabs off.
I am not a fan of scratch, so I'd like to tell you to stop buying it, period. But do as you wish. :lau
My birds love scratch. I only use about 1/4 cups of it per 3 cups of feed. Southerner birds love their 5 grain scratch and don't you dare to take it away. I am trying to keep their nutrition balanced and healthy. BUT, my Anna likes her scratch grains. She won't eat the cracked corn but only the barley and millet. I feel so terrible that i cannot figure out what she has. Plus, her scabs were off. They weren't attached to the skin at all. Just sitting on top and festering. I am really going downhill here... :(

So for the Rooster Booster brand Vitamin B12 the bottle says there is 10,000 mcg of vit b12 per ounce.

There are 29.5 ml to one ounce
29.5ml = 1 ounce

The Rooster Booster product recommend that you feed out 1ml to 3ml daily.
In 1ml there would be 338.98 mcg
In 3ml there would be 1016.94 mcg

The product you ordered only has 100 mcg of Vit B12 per 1ml.
And if you give your product at less than half of a ml that is barely any Vit B12.
Do you see what I am saying here?

Scratch is like feeding your chickens chips and or candy everyday.
It's just not healthy.

I have never ripped scabs off. I have tried to leave them undisturbed. She cannot see well with that scab being so big. She starts freaking out and runs around throwing herself around in the kennel! She can't see her waterer she can't she anyting! I use common sense. I help when i need to, not because i have muenchausen syndrome. I am quite healthy in my upper brain department and try to only help if needed. I will smother her with love, never over treat tho. lol

I haven't disturbed the scabs. only if they seem to fall off. and only to take them out. that's all.
