Chicken with possible eye problem what do you think?

is it a concern that you can see right through her nose? Is this normal It’s only in the one eye. I have not heard any respiratory noises. Two of them make a noise that kind of sound like a pigeon but i thought that was just there way of talking.

LOL No, Not a concern with seeing through the nose. You just got the perfect angle with the light just right to capture the photo.. What is the name of the eye drops she can use ? Dont sound like its anything serious .

I agree with @granny hatchet It's not a concern that we can see through the nostril. LOL I don't think I've ever seen a photo quite like that and it definitely let us know that your girl didn't have any mucous in the nostrils. Just a very good nostril photo:lol:

Chickens can make all type of sounds. If what you hear is concerning to you record it and post a video for us (upload to youtube, then provide us a link).

So the eggs will not be effected by this? I got these three new chickens weeks ago from a guy on craigs list. I hope I won't regret it. The Maran name is Oprah, and the two others are Ashley and Kate. They are like bobsy twins always side by side. The other chickens just aren't giving them a break yet. Pecking order. Thank you to everyone for all their input. I so appreciate it!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the eggs will not be effected by this?

Do you mean if she has a respiratory disease, can you still eat eggs - then yes, you can as long as you follow proper safe handling and cooking methods.

If you are treating her with antibiotics, then you need to know what the withdrawal period is for the medication.

Since these are "new" then stress can bring on symptoms of underlying disease. Hopefully they do not have a respiratory illness and this is just a peck to the eye from one of your other birds. Without testing, it would be hard to know, unless others start showing symptoms too.

fwiw-anytime you bring in new birds, it's good practice to observe a quarantine period
