Chickens and fly fishing?

    Are there any members out there who also raise chickens for tying fishing flies? When I lived up in New York State, I had a lot of friends and we all raised chickens for our own fly tying. (Oh, you don't have to kill the chickens for the feathers, I snip them off leaving the down for their protection just before their molt.

    You can make some neat fishing fly earrings, tie tacks, hat pins, etc with your own birds feathers!

    I used to tie flies a lot...but then I also used to fly fish a lot. If I had a lot more room and also not in an urban setting so I could have a rooster, I would stock some ornamentals for the feathers.

    I worked for a fly rod company out of Washington for 23 years.
    Started tying flies when I was ten.
