So two of my chickens got into an old batch of potting soil when I wasn't looking a couple of days ago. Like Miracle Grow or similar. It was not in a bag and it was in an old pot. They managed to make a mess of things as they do. Yesterday while cleaning up their area I noticed that they're droppings had tiny green balls in it. Did they ingest fertilizer?

They're acting totally fine. Not sick. And I immediately threw away their eggs from yesterday and today worried its going to leech in.

Should I do anything else for them? How long should I throw out their eggs?

I've attached a picture of the tiny green bit in case that helps. (This is from the potting soil they didn't eat not their droppings!) Thanks for anyone's insight on this.

They probably did ingest the fertilizer sorry I don't know what to do but maybe do an epsom salt flush?

Normally, in a case like this I like to give chickens a product called Toxiban as soon as possible. It is a liquid charcoal designed to be given orally. This product is really good at detoxifying (Not the word I'm wanting to use but this is what my brain is coming up with) intestinal contents. Generic charcoal capsules at the drug store will also work, but I like Toxiban as it calms the intestine. It is also my favorite product for sour crop. But, boy is it messy! So don't wear your favorite clothes and do it in an area that can survive splatter. Toxiban is available at your vet or possibly at your local Petsmart.

Oh yes, charcoal is really good for binding up toxins and taking them out of the digestive system. I use activated charcoal for stomach bugs and stomach aches in humans and it works great!

Thanks to both you. How long do you think egg withdrawal should be after using the charcoal? Would I be safe at 2 weeks or longer?
