Chickens being stolen

I have all my cages with locks ... BUT I had went out back to feed and water them , and came back in house for only b a few minutes and went back and found the evidence .

I told my husband these parents should be in a heap of trouble for having 5 kids LEFT unattended to while they work , GOOD thing I am not a COP . HUBBY said I am worse than a COP , I am a victim , and we will have our day in court . I did tell that cop that if I found them in my yard again , WHEN he gets the CALL , he will come here and think he is dealing with GRANNY CLAMPPET with her shotgun loaded LOL.... hubby said there is nothing worse than a MAD CAJUN........

I taught school (gifted education and Chinese language) for 40 years before retiring, and I raised a son and a daughter of my own. One thing I vowed that I would NEVER say was, "My child would never do that." I heard myselft saying it one time to a fireman, and sure enough my six-year-old daughter and her little friend had been smoking on the third floor and set the house on fire. They were really good kids/students, but they were "children", and I know that they did things that I do not know about (lucky for them); that's why they're called "children" and not "adults". ANY of them are capable of anything under the right circumstances.

One thing else that I would NEVER do is make the neighborhood children think that I was a "MEAN" person. I would NEVER want to be on their conversation list or have them mad at or dislike me; they don't see situations and adults the way adults do; that's why they're called "children".

AHAHAA YOU'RE INSANE. I want my neighborhood kids to FEAR MY DEADLY WRATH those stupid scummy children. Take this coming from a "problem," child, I watched FOUR children get away with BREAKING INTO SOMEONES HOUSE WITH INTENTION TO WREAK SOME HAVOC, and essentially destroy this persons well... life, the home was under offer, only ONE kid got charged, and even then their equally scummy parents bailed them out. SO NO, THEY'RE NOT JUST CHILDREN, these kids have minds of their own. You should not have to be an adult, to know when something is right or wrong.

FEAR ME CHILDREN, FEARRRRR ME!

That's really sweet of you to say and makes me laugh at the same time. Please don't take offense.

I think it is funny because I am exactly the opposite way. I want the neighborhood kids to think I'm horrible! I hope they get the impression we're like the Addams family or something---like we eat little kids in pies... How does one get a rumor like that started. I keep my kids at home and prefer that everyone else did the same.

Cassandra (MEAN)

I didn't make myself clear when I said that. What I meant to say is I have no hope of stopping any neighborhood children who might have it in for me. They could do a lot of damage to me and/or my property, and I'd never know who did or be able to prove it if I did know. It's ALWAYS been that way. I was a kid once (about a thousand years ago), and I remember well many things happening to some adults in the neighborhood, some repeatedly.

Carla, That was a very good post. If there were more people to do stuff like that ,this be a better place to live.
Sorry for the chickens you lost.I know it would be hard on me.love my checkens.43 so far.

I would NOT DARE mention to my hubby giving them chicks or helping them build a COOP , he would CALL THE MEN IN WHITE for sure .

Work off the punishment ? WE DONT want them EVER back in our yard . they best stay in their own yard . and I BEST NOT catch these little children alone during the day without adult supervision , CPS will be called SO FAST will make their heads spin .

I would be fuming!!!
I love the parents that say my kid would never do that til the cops show up.
Like the idiot that told his friend that he was going to smash Slifer's head in and my son heard him. We called the cops and they had a nice talk with him about animal cruelty...

Or the ones that ripped up another neigbhour's car cover...the owner asked me who did it and I said, who do you think? and he went over and talked to the parents who then came to me and chewed ME a new one and called me a LIAR(them was fightin words) because they didn't believe that their little darling would do it...but he's also the little so and so that was taking a baseball bat to another neighbour's new truck's lights, and throwing a basketball at it and climbing on it.

Now, I'm not gonna say mine's an Angel, but he KNOWS if he's that stupid, the cops can have him.

Did the parents get the other chicks out from under the house?

It sure would be nice if some of the above dreams about getting justice in courts for what the boys did could happen; however, since there's no money for lawyers involved (the main purpose for "courts' existence")... dream on.

If you had a lock on it, there are so many videos on youtube that show people how to pick locks in less than 10 seconds using homemade tools. Is it possible to get a security camera on your property that tapes everything? That'll be a real deterrent. It'll cost money but once parents and the police see videos, no one can say, "Not my kid." Then push for a prosecution.

I "hope" that I have raised my kids to know better and make the right choice.... but, like any kid, they are prone to STUPIDITY! However, in this case it is apparent lack of parental guidance. I'm sorry, you knew your kids had the chickens, but you didn't ask WHERE they came from or HOW they got them??? Pleeease.... My son came home with $5 once that he got from a guy at the gas station... he was paying and didn't have enough money so the old guy behind him gave him a five and told him to keep the change. We marched him right up to the store to verify his story and told him if he EVER took money from a stranger again he'd be grounded. Whenever the kids show up with something... we double check to make sure it's ok with who ever else was involved. If my kids showed up one day with chickens.... I'd sure as heck find out where they came from and HOW they got them! And if they were ever stupid enough to steal something..... Look out, they better call Child Services cause they're gettin a good ole fashioned whuppin!

I trust my kids.... but I was also a kid once.... I trust them to the extent of their ability to make good decisions
