Chickens dig tunnels?!?

    I always thought they were just digging potholes so I'd step in one, break my ankle, and then they could eat me... silly me, they're actually trying to tunnel and escape...

    I have dug a 1' trench around my fence and placed wire all the way down. This has prevented my hens from digging their way out and from predators too.

    That's what I'm working on. My Farm is super old and an old barn is built on solid concrete. I am one day going to build another chicken coop In its place and have an easy clean floor. Currently all my coops are on dirt. The coop floors are wood but the runs are dirt

    good to know.. i skirted the fencing flat and buried it with rocks and dirt.. i sure hope they don't figure out how to escape.. i live with foxes about, so they only free range when i'm home and outside..
     
  8. Oh geez!!! You have naughty chickens!!! My temporary hole blocks only lasted three hours :gigI went and found ollllld shingles and have made my own skirt around the coop, again only temporarily.

    I must say...this is providing the best entertainment I have had in awhile and I am not going to spend tomorrow morning figuring out how to make my coop and run escape proof!!! Who would have thought!!:th
