Chickens Eating my Storm Door!

I think they want in JT.;)

Some like to fly up and sit on my shoulder while I walk around the chicken yard but when I walk into the Florida room they fly off... so I'm guessing they are afraid of what's in there because it's new to them.

All I know is they were picking it off and no sign of the bits on the ground so I assume it's in the compost pile now...

Hmm, I'm not completely sure... but I don't think that chickens would actually eat wood. I'm not sure though, for all I know they could certainly eat wood

If it's wet and soft(er) in areas they may be looking for bugs. I have old stumps in my run and they do the same to them looking for insects in the soft parts. Lead or not, I would not want mine maybe ingesting paint so I'd try to fix that as soon as possible. It probably started with a tiny spot, since they will peck at anything, and then they all joined the party.

About lead in paint; it started being reduced by law in 1965, but wasn't almost gone until well after that.

The wife and I started building the house in 1998 and I didn't screen in the Florida room till 4-5 years later so the only lead around here is in my cannon balls...

Got the door changed out yesterday.

I believe this. My ducks eat at the storm door, and ate all the foam caulk that had been put there for insulation. My chickens eat the insulation installed in the coop roof, and eat the linoleum flooring on the bottom!! Building material eggs..........
:sick
