My understanding is that they lay their eggs in composty material, and they cook from the natural heat. You might use the incubator, and put the eggs in a container in some damp peat or leaf litter.She's hoping for eggs, and asked to use one of my incubators. Advances in artificial lighting and feed supplements do allow reptiles to have a longer lifespan. We also have two turtles, a map turtle and a red eared slider.
The older they are, the easier it is. I generally don't check until at least 8 weeks. It's also useful in gauging how close a pullet is to point of lay. When the bones widen and become more flexible, it's nearly time.
It also works on past point of lay hens, the bones will narrow and stiffen.
