What can I say?

I'm a glutton for punishment... :gig

She is 155 days old...22 weeks...so not too bad for LF cross.  And it's a full sized egg!  There is another pullet the same age, she should be starting soon, and the next fancy EE set is due to start around 10/21 then the rest around 11/6.

I still have a cockerel or two in there.  I need to hunt them down.  My big roo was so funny when I put his crow collar on, he thought he was dying.  He ran backwards in the coop, crashing into everything, then laid on the floor with his neck stretched out as if dead.  The hens came up, pecked at him, scratched at him, and treated him like carrion.

Two days later he is fine with the presence of the collar, I just need to snug it up a bit.

Sounds like a great pullet... and she is very pretty... hard to get that nice color on an EE pullet... most tend to the red/browns...

:lau about the roo... their pride and dignity gets bruised easy, eh?

SC, I am so glad you are back. While I may not engage too much in the humor, I do appreciate it. I just have to be careful about visiting this thread when I am on conference calls or in meetings as I have had inexplicable outbursts of laughter or spraying Coke on my monitor...I just blame it on PBA... I got my first egg from my "Fancy EEs" today. I am not disappointed! This is the girl that laid it: And her mama's egg is the paler green one to the right.
Very nice!

should be an interesting cross I'm crossing gold to silver just because I don't have enough pens . I would think its going to be hard to tell the difference . good luck with that. I have chicks that look all SLW and will have to grow out to see what they look grown.

K, I had to look it up but I think if you are putting a GLW roo over SLW hens they'll be sex-linked... think you get SLW cockerels and GLW pullets... *I think*

I think that's the way silver and gold sebrights work, so that would make sense to me.

ETA - either that, or the cockerels will be silver and the pullets will be mixed.

Beautiful egg from a beautiful bird! Love green eggs.

I *think* they might hatch out all black, but I am not totally sure on that... sw, I can give you a better answer Fri since I'll be meeting up with my genetics guru friend on Thurs and I will ask her to verify... :yiipchick :yiipchick Better to laugh than cry any day... :D I'm super excited... :celebrate
Thanks Ravyn! I'm pretty sure they won't be full on SLW when grown.

That is a great looking egg!

Hours after the broody took off and we noticed the pipped eggs we put them in the incubator. All six hatched out healthy.

And then she had the nerve to go sit on a whole other set of eggs. Not again Sister!
ha ha ha, go figure!!! good hatching for you and good incubating for her guess that means she gets the par and you get the aid? hmmm she got the aid though??????
