already pulled the thermostats out. those things are expensive . incubator warehouse has one that is cheaper . I don't think it is for wet applications so I would have to mount on the side of the cabinet and use the probe . I'll go back with the GQF replacement . their also the cheapest place to get them. got the two incubators in and the better one has the same problem I think . the turner works good and the fan is not as loud as the hatcher . also the thermostat is not a GQF don't know what it is . and the pilot light is not working on the turner or the heater. so maybe its just a bad switch. I don't have a fax so I have take invoices to Nashville and lose at least hours .Tomorrow I'll go pick up checks and do it again .that's four hours not going to get much done on them for a few days . I'll start putting the hatcher back together tonight .if I don't fall asleep first .

STC-1000 is under $15 on ebay, I have had one running in my homebuilt incubator since last February. It can handle humidity, just not water contact. But as good as it is, the GQF proportional thermostat is better. I bought this one for mine http://www.gqfmfg.com/cabinet-accessories/3255-deluxe-multi-turn-electronic-thermostat-with-plug/ and it is amazing. But the good old fashioned wafer http://www.gqfmfg.com/cabinet-model-parts/3122-wafer-thermostat/ will hatch enough eggs for you so you can buy the electronic one after hatching and selling a few birds. If they weren't so big and you so far I'd buy one off you as is.

Can't believe I have three incubators with bad thermostats . the wafer switch is good on both the ones I'm working on. the wafers are old but these two seem to be ok .I've been all over the internet looking for a better price. I have three of the STC-1000 thermostats . 1degree on and off just doesn't seem like good ideal in one of this cabinets . I think it would be hard to get it to keep a constant temperature . the third one is going to take a lot of cleaning . just need to order parts . going to order at least one light . two thermostats . this order and get these two going and wait a bit on the other. I wouldn't sell some one a mess like that . Its a good thing I know to work on things .

STC1000 will switch at 0.3F if you set it up right. With that volume of air and that much mass in the cabinet, that will be fine. The eggs won't see the swings. Just plop the STC on top, wired to a receptacle, and plug the bator in with the wafer set to always on. Check your temps after an hour and see how it does.

Those old thermostats were not designed to live forever. Think about those fancy new digital ones...how much will the controllers be when those fail?

I might try that .I have two still in the box for brooders I could hook it up to see how it does . before I spend more money on these things . I've had one in the old bower for seven months the eggs hatch fine that make it that far. the temperature swing is four degrees . but at egg level it stays 99.5 .I can't get a turner in it. I turned by hand the first hatch. 75 eggs by hand takes to much time. I think we'll be seeing a lot of cabinets for sale when the digital controllers start to fail . had I know how simple these cabinets are constructed I would have built one already .

Yep not much to them. The turner is a pretty good design but the rest is pretty basic.

If they don't sell I have a head start on my 2016 layers!  Easter Eggers on Easter...what a marketing line!

This might be a silly question but if I want to sell chicks for Easter time, should I have them hatch like a day or 2 before Easter? I've never sold chicks, so do people want to buy day olds?

Got my first actual bantam cochin egg today. Its so tiny! Now I'm getting 4 types of eggs. I'm so eggcited :D

Now to wait for the sebrights, japs, and oegb's lol

You're such a lucky girl!!!
