Chickens up at night

Good Evening,

We seem to have a new issues where our chickens are up in the middle of the night now.
The rooster is now even crowing.

I have checked for mites, and anything around that could be disturbing them and nothing.
They seem to just be walking around their inclosure and the rooster crows for about 30 minutes atleast.

Anyone have any suggestions what might be causing this?

Any lights visible from inside the coop, i.e. your own or a neighbor's?

I don't think they need a reason..... at least our chickens don't. They go off at about 2 a.m. every night and have done it for years. It is primarily the roosters.

My roosters also like to crow in the wee hours. If one of them starts, the other one feels obligated to join in.

I suspect they are hearing something moving around outdoors and are trying to let whatever it is know that they are vigilantly protecting their girls.

Do you have access to a game camera? Crowing in the night is not unusual, but the flock walking around, rather than roosting, is. It might be something small and quick disturbing them, such as rodents.

Get a game camera, you'd be surprised at what visits at night.

I did go out once to do final checks for the night and saw a chicken just walking around on the floor of the coop in the dark. Sometimes they do the most random things.

However, since this is a new change, I definitely suggest trying to figure out what might be disturbing them. I would check for any potential light sources that might be getting into the coop, and I also suggest what everyone else said about getting a game camera to figure out if you are getting any unwelcome visitors that could be bothering them.
