Chickens, What's Not To Love!

I have a pretty fair fear of birds myself. I actually can’t stand most birds.
This is why it’s so weird that I’ve always absolutely loved chickens! Lol
I guess I see them differently.
So you get it lol I've always had a colony of finch because they're fun to watch but they prefer not to be handled. Our rescue African Gray played sweet for the first few weeks that we fostered her. I swear as soon as we decided to fill out the paperwork to adopt her ourselves, she turned crazy! She doesn't help my fear 😱

I’ve always hated pet birds because they are gross. We were raised that chicks were cute, but chickens are ugly and smelly. Well, that all went out the window. And coop...
Lol I love my finch colony but they're VERY messy! I like then because they prefer not to be handled but I enjoy their song. I think the worst for mess was the pigeon we fostered though.

Ducks are definitely messy, but if you learn how to deal with the water containers (without overdoing it), and what bedding works with your flock (it differs, believe me), it’s not a big deal. :gig Except on pavement. That is bad.
We planned to get 3 khakis, but came home with 2 Pekins also because we felt bad they were outgrowing their space 😂 We currently use straw in their coop, but since it's so rainy here right now, we are moving them to a little higher ground. Might use horse pellet under straw in the new space. Think that would work? I'm afraid the ducks will try to eat the pellet though. 🤷🤦
