Chickens with horses; Free range or tractor

My chickens have always free ranged around the horses. The chickens do a great job of scattering and eating horse manure and it has a lot of B vitamins and other nutrients that chickens need. Plus the chickens do help control flies.

The possum would worry me big time because they will kill chickens.

My chickens free range daily and can go in the horse paddock or not as they choose. The scratch the manure and one pullet likes to pick at the alfalfa hay next to the horse. He gets mostly grass hay with a small bit of alfalfa, and although he eats it fast like the treat that it is, he doesn't mind sharing it.
