If I remember correctly,it was about 100.00 for shipping.I have a sportsmen, but it is a basket case.I worked great for 4 years and then it burnt the turning motor every year after that. After 5 turning motors I gave up and bought a dickey. If you know someone that can fix it,I have all the parts.I'm positive it's something to do with wiring.Like to get 300.00 for it.

Wow, I'm surprised. I've never heard of those sorts of problems with a sportsman. Reminds me of all the hassles I had with my old styrofoam bators! My DH could probably fix it, but it's more of a question would he ever have time to fix it.

Did you get the fancy egg holders or automatic humidity system for the Dickey?

Yes, I do have the egg holders and humidity pail for my dickey.
It may even be as little as a slight adjustment to the roller switgh.I did put a new switch in,but like I said it may be just slightly off and that will stop the turner motor from functioning properly. You are more then welcome to stop by and check it out.

We love our Sportsmen. Have an older one I believe it's the 1502 would have to go out and check the model number. We are going into our 5th year with this one and bought it used. We have never replaced anything. Plugged it in and let it go for 24 hours and put eggs in. The first three chicks hatched this year didn't make it but the brooder is getting pretty full now. We have to do very little with our sportsmen, not sure how the new ones are with the digital, but was thinking about getting another one, but ths year Sarah has other interests as well and will probably not be hatching as much as we did last year. The only thing I don't like about the cabinet ones is when it comes to hatching. You need to plan your settings so when aren't opening it alot to put in more eggs, lots of heat and humidity gets lost when that door is open to candle..
