my 4 week old silver laced wyandottes have their back feathers and are really energetic, I was wondering if I could cut the heatlamp (they very rarely go and lay in the light)? They seem to huddle together to sleep but otherwise they are very independant little girls.

What are the temps in your area? Or are they inside?

I usually leave a heat lamp so they can warm themselves up if they need to. They can get cold quickly at 4 weeks. At 4 weeks I remove the heat lamp if the temps are above 75-80 (so around here, thats midday only). At 6 weeks I do heat lamps below 70. At 8-10 weeks I take out the heat lamp completely.
